Marketing Tools
Let registrants opt in to your mailing list while they register, and sync their details straight into MailChimp or Constant Contact.
When this is set up, people registering for your courses see an opt-in checkbox. Tick it, and their email and whatever registration fields you have mapped are pushed into your marketing tool. Leave it unticked and nothing is sent.
Opt-in only
Nothing syncs unless the registrant checks the box. That is deliberate — it keeps your list consented, which is what your marketing tool's terms require of you.
Find these under Organization Settings → Marketing Tools.
Setting it up
There are three steps, and the third is the one people forget.
1. Connect the account
Go to MailChimp or Constant Contact and click Add MailChimp Account / Add Constant Contact Account. You are redirected to their site to sign in and grant access, then returned to LecturePanda. There is no API key to copy — it is a standard OAuth handoff.
You can connect more than one account of either kind, which is useful when different programs feed different lists.
2. Map your fields
Click Edit on the connected account.
MailChimp Audience (MailChimp only)
Which audience contacts are synced into. Required.
Custom Field Sync Mappings
Pairs a LecturePanda Field with a field on the other side. Name and email carry across on their own; use this for anything else you collect — member ID, license number, organization, or any custom field on your registration form.
Create the destination field first
You can only map onto fields that already exist in MailChimp or Constant Contact. If the dropdown is missing what you want, go and create it there, then come back.
3. Attach it to a catalog
This is the step that actually turns the checkbox on. The connection alone does nothing until a catalog uses it.
Open the catalog (Publication/Series) and find External Marketing Sync:
- Marketing Tool Sync — the connected account to use.
- Sync To List (Constant Contact only) — which distribution list receives the contacts.
Every course published to that catalog now offers the opt-in checkbox at registration.
How MailChimp contacts are labelled
MailChimp contacts are tagged automatically with both the lecture name and the catalog name, so you can segment on either without setting up separate audiences.
Tracking ads and conversions
There's no turnkey Google Analytics or Google Ads integration today, and the registration flow makes the usual approach awkward: you can't add scripts to LecturePanda's registration and checkout pages, and there's no configurable post-purchase redirect to a thank-you page on your own site where a conversion pixel would normally fire.
Two workarounds get most of the way there.
Track the click-through (top of funnel)
On your own marketing pages, tag the buttons and links that send visitors to a LecturePanda registration page as a Google Analytics event — "Started registration" or similar.
This measures intent rather than purchases, but it takes about fifteen minutes, uses only tools you already control, and is enough to optimize ad spend against. Start here.
Fire a pixel after purchase
Add an HTML learning material to the course (under Materials) containing a GA4 event tag or Google Ads conversion pixel.
With the course's Access set to Restricted Access, learning materials are reachable only after someone has registered and paid — so the pixel effectively fires post-purchase.
It fires on every visit
The tag runs each time a learner opens the materials, not just the first time. Use GA4's unique-user filtering to approximate a per-purchase count, and treat the number as an estimate rather than a transaction log.
Troubleshooting
Nobody is being added to my list. Almost always step 3 — the account is connected but no catalog points at it. Check the catalog your courses are published to, not just the integration page.
The checkbox never appears at registration. Same cause. The checkbox is driven by the catalog setting, so a course that isn't published to a synced catalog won't show it.
Contacts arrive with missing information. The field isn't mapped, or the registrant was never asked for it. Check the mapping first, then check that the field is actually on the registration form for that Registration Type.
I need to disconnect an account. Delete it from the list here. Contacts already synced stay in your marketing tool — this stops future syncing, it does not reach back and remove anyone.
